The Barcelona man (alves) is ever ready to leave the Nou Camp for the
Premier League next summer with Louis van Gaal desperate for a new
right-back
Alves, 31, has revealed that he wants to leave the Nou Camp next year to head for the Premier League - and United boss Louis Van Gaal is desperate to sign a right-back with Alves known to be on his radar.
It is believed Alves favours a move to Manchester City, where he knows the club’s former Barca directors Txiki Begiristain and Ferran Soriano.
But City are not thought to be keen to sign a player who almost moved to them back in 2010, only to agree a new Barca deal.
United could be ready to make a move, though with Van Gaal having prioritised the signing of a right-back, as Rafael has failed to convince the Dutchman he has a long-term future at Old Trafford.
As a dynamic wing-back, Alves would fit into Van Gaal’s 3-5-2 system and he is out of contract at the end of the season.
Alves could make a cut-price January move after seven years at Barcelona, rather than wait for a free transfer next summer.
Barca have not ruled out offering Alves a further one-year agreement but the players’ advisors are checking out English options.
Chelsea have also been strongly linked with Alves in Spanish media but the west London club are believed to be happy with their impressive right-back options of Branislav Ivanovic and Cesar Azpilicueta.
